Infernal Affairs II

Infernal Affairs II is the prequel to the hit movie Internal Affairs that talks about Yan, Ming and the cycle of veageance and how it all began. The movie starts with the assasination of a triad boss by Ming (Edison Chen) that leads to a cycle of revenge by the son, Xiao (Francis Ng). Superintendent Wong (Anthony Wong) determined to hunt Xiao down joins hands with Sam (Eric Tsang). Yan (Shawn Yue) the half-brother of Xiao is determined to be a good person and is sent to be a mole for the police in the gangs. Ming is sent by Sam to become a mole for the gang in the police. The supporting actors especially Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang and Francis Ng are excellent in portraying their characters. Francis Ng especially comes across as a cold-hearted, calm man who holds his late father's business in his hands. However he also shows a vulnerable side of him that loves his family a lot. Eric Tsang, playing a role different from his comic roles, is also convincing playing a man who lost his wife (Carina Lau) as well as his transition from a good to a bad guy. Anthony Wong also fares well with his explict portrayal of a policeman with the heart to change the wrongs in the world yet without much power to do so. An excellent, gripping movie with a cast of wonderful mature actors that whets your appetite for Infernal Affairs 3.
